The "Susami Town Ebi & Kani Aquarium" in Susami Town, Wakayama Prefecture, is a rare aquarium in the world dedicated to shrimp and crabs. It reuses the gymnasium of the former Esumi Junior High School, which had closed down, and exhibits approximately 150 species of crustaceans.
There are also exhibits of rare crustaceans such as the world's largest crab, the Japanese spider crab, and the world's largest shrimp, the American lobster. Additionally, there are plenty of hands-on exhibits, including a "touching pool" where you can feel sea urchins and starfish, and a hermit crab fishing experience.
The World Stamp Collection is being held until October 31, 2025, and features many rare and valuable stamps of crustaceans.
It can be enjoyed by a wide range of people, from children to adults, and you can spend time immersing yourself in the world of crustaceans.
